Monday, a photographer friend of mine- Jessica Rushing- messaged me and was like, “My water just broke, i’d like you to shoot my birth!”
I’m game.
One.. because.. man I love shooting birth stories.
and two..
because.. well, i love shooting birth stories. lol
lol So off to Allen Presbyterian I drove.
I got there about 10 pm.
Jessica had been checked and was at a 2. We all figured it’d be a good while.. So I snapped some pictures.
and then I went to the waiting area with the family, to give Jessica and her husband some privacy. I mean the last thing you want is someone in your face while you’re in labor. Or at least that’s how I was. Just leave me beeeeeeeeee! So I got the particulars.. and off I went.
Well, I sat next to Jessica’s mother in law.. and she was getting texts from Jessica’s husband..
She’s at a 4.
She’s at a 6. in a lot of pain. Epidural on it’s way!
She’s at a 9. SEND PHOTOG.
and omggg I hauled it back to the room.
They told her it was too late for an epidural.
Seriously she progressed in like .. 20-30 minutes. Then they told her, if you be really still, and lay on your side… He’ll try.
And she did.
I have NEVER seen that happen.. but the anesthesiologist was incredible. And Jessica was incredible. And together they nailed that epidural. With a woman in major active labor at a 9!
Kudos, guy in blue! Kudos, Jessica! lol You’re my hero!and here we are.
I left out my favorite pictures.. due to well.. Some things are meant to be shown publicly, .. because there’s nothing more real than a baby being born.. but I’ll let ya’ll google that, if you haven’t seen it before.
Each time I see it,..I’m in awe.
it really is the miracle of life.
the first thing baby Jagger did, was find his mother. And wrap his tiny hand around her finger.
A baby knows.and then major skin to skin time.
I love that hospitals are doing this now.
They didn’t when I had my babies.. they whisked them away, and I honestly didn’t see them for hours. My twins I could understand.. they were premature.
but,.. I didn’t see my youngest baby for 5 hours after he was born. He was off in a nursery.. waiting to get bathed. Stupid. And my kids aren’t that old either. 10, and 7. It’s amazing the things that have changed since they were born. You did it!
I started giggling when the nurse picked Jagger up like this.. It reminded me of the Lion King.. When they show Simba to the animal kingdom.. lol I am so very immature sometimes. Sorry.
I LOVED her doctor.. She was awesome!
Daddy time.

Big brother time <3 He was totally smitten.
First family photo!
I’ve also never seen a baby so ready to nurse before either.. But he was ready. He was haaaaangry. <3
These are just sneaks.. but I wanted to show you guys, and sort of tell a story.
That’s why I call them birth stories. hahaha
I’ve really had too much coffee today.
Anyways back to editing I go!

Congrats Rushing Family! <3 <3
There’s nothing better than a brood of boys!
